In recent versions of Photoshop CC, Adobe moved the highly searched Tooltip settings out of the “Tools” menu and into this dedicated “Notifications” tab. If you have been wondering where the missing tooltip option went or how to turn off tips in Photoshop, this is the exact menu you need.
What is a tooltip in Adobe? It is the small text box that pops up showing the name of the tool and its keyboard shortcut when you hover your mouse cursor over the workspace toolbar. While great for beginners learning the interface, if you already know your shortcuts and want to turn off tips in Photoshop to reduce visual clutter, simply disable this option.
Navigation: Edit > Preferences > Notifications > Uncheck "Tooltips"
Checking this box is the ultimate shortcut for a distraction-free workspace. It suppresses non-critical Photoshop notifications while you are working. Importantly, enabling this automatically disables the next three settings (Rich Tooltips, What’s new, and Feature Onboarding). This is incredibly useful if you are doing highly focused work and don’t want any Adobe messaging, promotional windows, or video tutorials interrupting your flow.
Navigation: Edit > Preferences > Notifications > Check "Enable quiet mode"
(Note: If you choose to leave Quiet Mode unchecked, it is still highly recommended that you manually uncheck Rich Tooltips, What’s new, and Feature Onboarding below to save processing resources and keep your workspace clean.)
3. Uncheck “Rich Tooltips” Instead of a simple text box, Rich Tooltips display a large 5-second video demonstration. These video pop-ups take up too much screen space and add unnecessary processing overhead.
4. Uncheck “What’s new” Prevents promotional windows from popping up over your home screen showcasing the latest Adobe features.
5. Uncheck “Feature Onboarding” Disables step-by-step educational workflow tours from interrupting you directly inside your active workspace.
